Job Description

As a Building and Engineering Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the construction and engineering teams to ensure the successful completion of projects. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks related to building, testing, and maintaining various structures and systems. This role requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to assist in the design, planning, and implementation of construction and renovation projects.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems within buildings.
  • Perform routine tests and inspections on equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including blueprints, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Monitor and maintain building security systems, fire alarms, and emergency response equipment.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations, providing effective and timely solutions.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and support staff to achieve project goals and deadlines.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventories.

Skill & Experience

  • Associate degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., engineering technology, construction management).
  • Proven experience as a building or engineering technician.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction methods, and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to building and construction work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may involve lifting, climbing, and manual labor.
